With the leadership of Mr. Turgay Saltan, Ms. Fatma Erim Findik and Mr. Can Suleyman Bozlu, who have been in the sector of maritime transportation for many years, Burkont Container Logistics was established in a popular business centre named Bursa Textile and Commerce Centre in 2004, made its personnel up of experienced people in this sector and started working in maritime transportation. Burkont Logistics provides seamless full container export/import transportations from/to Gemlik, Istanbul, Izmir, Mersin ports and its main purpose is to increase the number of partial export shipments from the city where it is situated. Since Gemlik is a port town with an intense production capacity, Burkont aims at transporting goods overseas with fewer costs and within less time without having to move them kilometres away and therefore it reveals the big contribution to export activities. It was clearly stated in all meetings of industrial producers from Bursa that lack of this service is such an issue not only for Bursa but also for South Marmara and the necessary work to solve the problem was completed at the end of 2004. Burkont then opened the first partial console, Dubai, from Gemlik to the world and achieved a first in the area. This attempt started with Dubai console and continued to develop in 2005 with the ongoing feasibility studies.
